The OpenAI plugin has been submitted and is in review. It is not publicly listed. The connection instructions below are for compatible clients with custom MCP support.
Pick your client
The server URL is the same for every client.
https://bricksid.com/mcp
How login works
- Add BricksID with the server URL for your client.
- Choose Connect or Authenticate. Your browser opens bricksid.com. Sign in with Google, Apple, or your email and password, then approve access. The password stays on this site.
- Return to the chat. Ask it to identify a figure. It should check your account, then give you an upload link to open on your phone, or use a photo URL you already have.
When the client does not ask for specific scopes, the grant is scan, collection:read, and collection:write. export and seller are opt-in, for collection downloads and Whatnot tools. A token from when the default was scan-only needs a reconnect before collection tools work.
Clients that only send a header can use a personal access token from bricksid.com/settings/tokens. Send Authorization: Bearer bid_pat_…. Tokens last 90 days and you can revoke them on that page.
What you can ask
- Identify one figure. "Give me a BricksID upload link, then identify the minifig in my photo and tell me what it sells for."
- Add it to your collection. "Add that figure to my BricksID collection as used, quantity 1, paid $4."
- Review what you own. "List my BricksID collection, newest first, and show which items have gone up since I bought them."
- Inventory a whole pile (Pro). "Scan this photo of my minifigs with BricksID and add every one you can identify." Each figure gets a BrickLink id and price. Anything that cannot be matched is listed and left out. You confirm each row on your Collection page.
- Export or sell (Collector and Pro). "Export my Star Wars minifigs as a CSV," or "Build a Whatnot CSV for the items that have a price."

What's free and what's paid
MCP needs a free BricksID account. Create one. Plan details are on pricing.
| Feature | Free | Collector | Pro |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scans per day | 20 | 300 | 1,000 |
| Collection | Up to 50 | Up to 2,000 | No item cap |
| Included | Scan, upload link, catalog search, prices, add and edit the collection | Exports, collection summary, and query | Pile scan (one photo of many figures), Whatnot CSV, and Confirm uploaded |
Scans reset at 00:00 UTC. Collector and Pro scan caps are fair-use. Uploads, search, collection tools, exports, and Whatnot tools do not use a scan. Export downloads need the Collector plan and the export scope. Whatnot CSV and Confirm uploaded need Pro and the seller scope. A pile scan needs Pro and counts as one scan per photo.
What we store
Upload-link photos are available for scanning for 24 hours after the link is created. Scheduled cleanup attempts to delete expired upload photos and records; deletion can happen later than expiry. The upload processor attempts to remove EXIF location data from JPEG, PNG, and WebP before storage. HEIC is stored as taken, because this server cannot strip that format yet. Photos are sent to Brickognize (api.brickognize.com) to suggest a catalog match. A pile scan also sends the photo to Anthropic to locate each figure, then sends each cropped figure to Brickognize. BricksID does not train models on them.
A photo you save with a collection item on bricksid.com stays with that item. Adding a row from chat keeps the catalog entry without attaching the temporary upload photo. Collection and Whatnot download links expire after 24 hours. Anyone with an unexpired link can download the file. Expired files are removed when their link is requested after expiry, so stored files can remain longer. A repeat-scan record stores your account, the time, a hash of the image, and the identify result for a 24-hour reuse window before scheduled cleanup. It does not store the image.
The longer policy is on the privacy page.
Any other MCP client
Any client that speaks remote MCP can use https://bricksid.com/mcp. Cursor, VS Code, Gemini CLI, and mcp-remote snippets are on the Other tab. A client that cannot open a browser uses a personal access token: Authorization: Bearer bid_pat_… from settings/tokens.
FAQ
How does a photo get from the chat to BricksID?
Ask for an upload link and open it on your phone, or pass a public https photo URL. Chat attachments are not delivered to this server. The local-file package is coming soon.
Do I need an account?
Yes. Create a free account, then connect. Free includes 20 scans a day and a collection of up to 50 items.
Which permissions does Connect approve?
The default grant is scan, collection read, and collection write. Export and seller are separate approvals. If you connected before collection scopes were included, reconnect so those tools work. A scan-only token that calls a collection tool is declined until you reconnect.
How sure is an identification?
Photo ID that suggests the right fig — confirm the BrickLink ID when it matters. Confidence is high, medium, or low.
Is there a BricksID GPT I can enable in one click?
Not yet. Use ChatGPT developer mode and the server URL. Directory listings come after this setup page.
Can I point the tool at a file on my computer?
@bricksid/mcp is coming soon and is not on npm. Use an upload link or a photo URL until that package ships.
